One of the best spots for barbacoa tacos. The only drawback it's an hour north of Mexico City. Still, it's worth the trip if you are a fan! Santiago is located on the side of the Mexico Queretaro highway: keep your eyes peeled not to miss the exit. We grabbed a quick bite on the sidewalk without going inside. The meat is stored inside a container, covered with nopal leaves. The taco is made right there in front you. I'm drooling just by writing the review. The rest is magic. Meat is very tasty and soft. I'd go back more often if it wasn't so far away. Strongly recommended.

Best place to have Barbacoa on your way to Queretaro! Super fast service and everyone is really attentive. Loved the quesadillas and the Barbacoa, they are extra cheesy and the barbacoa is super juicy and full of flavor. They also offer fresh juices of a lot of fruits, that are from the common flavors to the more exotic like star fruit or jackfruit and desserts.

Is was my first time ever eating tacos for breakfast? Seriously I'm thinking about eating tacos for breakfast every single day. I've learned so much Mexican culture from eating here.

La Barbacoa de Santiago is pure soul food — the kind of place that stays with you long after you leave. These are, without a doubt, my favorite tacos in all of Mexico. It’s a humble, traditional spot right on the side of the road, but every bite tells a story of flavor, tradition, and care. If you’re ever feeling rough, their barbacoa broth is pure healing — the kind of recipe that wakes you up and comforts your soul. The tortillas are packed with flavor, and every plate you try feels like it carries a personal stamp of quality. Simple, honest, unforgettable — a true taste of Mexico at its very best. I first tried La Barbacoa de Santiago on my way from Mexico City to San Miguel de Allende, and the food was so spectacular that I made sure to stop there again on my way back. Some places are just too good to pass by once.
